Timeline

Non-Player Characters

Andyr Vasch. A male human space pirate of the lowest kind. Tall and stocky with a dark complexion and even darker eyes. For years he preyed on the weak in the outer rim. His crew were known for taking anything and everything. He thought Reeva was no different. A young, vulnerable girl to be used and then tossed away. He raped her, left her and thought nothing of it. More recently his is thought to be working for the Zann Consortium. Although still very much in a pirate capacity. Most recently his dreams are haunted by visions of her. It's not clear he even knew or remembers her name. These dreams will drive him to find Reeva, but it is not clear whether he wants to kill her, re-live her rape or seek salvation to rid himself of these nightmares.

Angu Drombb. Vemmla's lieutenant. Little more than a thug himself, a heavy set and squat man with an angry red face and a shock of fluffy auburn hair. He tries to cultivate sophisticated airs and habitually wears an expensive suit, but he is naturally a vulgar man and finds the façade difficult to maintain. He leads a gang of twelve thugs (a mix of humans and Aqualish). His role for Vemmla is to collect as much spice as he can from locals. He has a wide remit to do what he needs to get as much as possible.

Captain Rel Harsol. He is the battlehardened veteran of the Clone Wars who attempted to smuggle Cratala and her crew out of the Republic and set up a black-market cybertech operation with Ropok, Reom's father. Now, he leads the meager band of survivors on Cholganna.

Carid. A Nediji Black Sun assassin who trained and mentored Cho through her formative years. A quiet and frugal man with an explosive temper and love of poetry. Never physically violent towards Cho or anyone around her, but his temper was nonetheless something to fear because you never quite knew when he'd stop at harsh words and when he'd decide to quietly deliver a lesson by taking away something precious. He thinks of himself as a kindly and just mentor, delivering the kind of lessons one needs to learn how to survive this harsh unkind galaxy. Either way, he'd make you feel like anything that went wrong was your fault for not doing well enough. Cho was a dream come true. A changeling who could utterly dismantle a victim's life, discredit them in the public eye, and then have them appear to suffer a tragic accident or take their own life. Everything he could possibly want as a tool in his stable. Cho was his protege, his "little bird". He rose to power within the Black Sun organisation, maybe on the back of some of Cho's most successful and daring assassinations. After Cho left his care he vied to be a Vigo but failed. For a time he fell out of favour. Recently rumours suggest he has clawed his way back up the ranks, maybe even to the heady heights of master of Assassins for Prince Xizor of House Sizhran – the Falleen leader of the Black Sun’s himself.

Ceoloe. Bartender of the Blasted Asteroid Cantina on The Wheel.

Cratala. Aloof and eccentric, the Arkanian is a master cybertech who blends her own genius with forgotten, Old Republic technology to create unsurpassed cybertech. When Chancellor Palpatine abducted her colleagues to serve as his personal medical staff, Cratala only narrowly escaped to the CIS and was later rescued once again by Capt. Harsol.

Dreks Verza. A human fixer on The Wheel who is known for keeping things to himself.

Eranas Charrel. A gorgeous female Abednedo skip tracer who has helped Reeva for several years. She gave her jobs when she needed the money and experience. She tracked down Zak's location. She continues to try and track down Reeva's mother even now that the trail has long gone cold. Eranas has a soft spot for Reeva and has never charged for any of her help. Reeva owes her many favours...

Gak'Fedaw. A Twi'lek male jedi youngling who escaped with Cho from the Jedi temple massacre of the younglings. Fast friends during their training. He was a partner in crime. Full of mischief, powerful in the force but lacked focus. They separated soon after their escape. From time to time Cho thinks of Gak what what might have come of him. Maybe the force still links them in some way.

Garik Mohebbi. A disreputable Mon-Calamari who is happy to trade ships to those with tarnished credentials.

Hymbel the Hand. A kind old man/magician that helped Lisanna after her mother died. An old school magician in a world that has real magic users wielding the force? His powers of manipulation and manual dexterity are so great that he has often been mistaken for a force user. Old now, Lisanna owes him a great debt that may need to be repaid in the future.

Iella Ryscandor. A female human captain of the ship that rescued the Rebels that lead to Dane's sisters death at the hands of an imperial patrol. Her part in that rescue made her a hero of the Rebellion. She eschewed a command role preferring to stay active. She is known to captain rebel ships on dangerous missions in all corners of the Empire.

IT-3PO. Originally owned by Capt. Harsol, the protocol droid is an expert negotiator who works for IsoTech while his master was missing.

Jaina Gantu. A female Balosar who runs drugs for Crimson Dawn. Zak's had several run ins with her crew as he has meeted out vigilante style justice for all the suffering their drugs have caused on countless systems. Zak keeps an ear out for this crew and their paths often cross.

Jeb. A kindly man that took Reeva in when she needed it the most. She owes him for his past kindness although he has never called upon her... He knows that Reeva is force sensitive - this places him in a position of trust and danger at the same time.

Karnak. A male Duros who dipped his toe into all sorts of low level criminal activities on Tatooine. Hong's partner in crime before they fell out (and before Hong replaced him with Dain). A nervous guy by nature, heavy user of all sorts of drugs (to calm his nerves) and libel to run than fight. He never shuts up. Karnak never forgave Hong when a betting scam they ran fell through and the wrong pod racer won the match, even after Hong assured him the engine was rigged. Karnak lost a lot of money that day and went into hiding from those he owned money to.

Kelarin. A middle aged male Twilek. Runs Vemmla’s office in Mos Elia. Has fallen for Lisana's charms.

Kor Lanoc. Lisana has a knack for picking up strays and helping them get on their feet. Kor runs a re-homing centre for abandoned children on Foerost. Although he tries not to impose on Lisana the home always needs help with money and keeping the local authorities on side. Lisana has i the past used her considerable charm to win over local government bureaucrats to keep the home open and provide funding. However bureaucrats and priorities change.

Losa Parry. A human female in her early 40s. She is the majordomo for Vemmla. She also maintains palace security. What is not very well known is that Losa has some very unusual sexual preferences. used to work for the ISB.

Mart Alleyn. Lisana's Aunt who runs a bar on Foerest. Lisana has blackmailed her in the past for help. Mother’s sister.

Mara Girdano. A great beauty, storyteller and writer of children's stories. Lisana's mother.

Merioon "Meri" Myrto. Zak's younger brother who he knew as Meri, although no one has called him that in 30 years. Now both physically (and life experience) older than Zak. He is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Imperial Intelligence. Zak knew Meri to be serious even as a young boy. Adorable when he was 5, he wanted to do well for his family and make them proud. He worked hard at school. Got his grades. Went into the academy following Zak's lead and the family business. He advanced through the years. He never blamed Zak for what he did, but never really understood it either. There is a job to be done and it needs to be done well. His excellent record offset the stain of Zak's betrayal, but he will never make command now, and maybe there is some resentment for that.

Nyn Kablo. A human female in her mid 40s. She is veteran of the clone wars. Battle scared and hard as nails. Although not a clone herself, she served the Jedi as a young trooper in the regular Galatic Republic army. She ended up working for Vemmla as Head of Security. A good paying job with some up sides and down sides. She failed to keep Cho and Reeva from freeing Zak and lost her job and freedom. Vemmla threw her into the arena. Somehow she managed to survive long enough for Vemmla to become bored with her and after an epic fight she cast her into the desert. She now acts as a protector for the small remote Twi’lek Ryll mining town of New Meen. She found steady work, kind people and no questions about her past. In return she protects them from the lawless elements on Ryloth. She is maybe too fond of a drink.

Quix Cata. Captain Harsol's Aqualish Head of Security.

Reina Galene. Reeva's mother. Definitely MIA, maybe KIA. She certainly left a lot of blood behind and not much else for even a skilled Skip Tracer. This can only mean that someone is actively hiding her. Maybe herself, maybe her captors. Given the mystery surrounding her disappearance there is a story there. All I can say is that there are other force wielders out there than Jedi and Sith....

Reom . Reom is a blue-skinned Twi’lek male who uses his supremely average, nondescript appearance to blend in perfectly with almost any starport crowd. Reom is president of IsoTech based on The Wheel. He is a talented smuggler, crafty entrepreneur, and superb negotiator. He has contacts throughout the galaxy, including powerful figures in the underworld. Reom handles IsoTech’s Outer Rim operations, particularly new acquisitions and allies.

Roza Dagmar. Technically still Zak's wife. Part of the powerful Dagmar family. Their influence goes back deep in the Republic's history and now continues unabated serving the Empire. Roza is now an Admiral in the Imperial Fleet. When Zak turned his back on the Empire and fled she (and her powerful family) did everything they could to distance themselves from him and his actions. People were threatened, records were destroyed or altered. Zak is dead to them. However he cost them a lot of money and if he should ever cross their paths again...

Shira. Reom's business-savvy sister. She handles IsoTech’s deals in the Mid Rim and Coreward. She bristles at the notion that Twi’lek females are little more than dancing girls and is quick to correct any misguided individuals on that point. She is blue-skinned, with gold and silver tattoo patterns on her arms and lekku.

Sivor. A lean and wiry geonosian with many battle scars. Arena Master for Vemmla for many years. Also acts as the master of arms for Vemmla. He keeps himself, equipment and living quarters spotless. He lives by his routines; eating, cleaning, sleeping, training and even fighting. His fighting style is based on a clear system that injects enough randomness to ensure he continues to win. Now that he trains he drives his students through the same routines and systems to perfection. A perfect death that is.

Tans. A fixer who hangs out in the cantina in Mos Elia, Tatooine. He has a western vibe to his dress and style. Has helped the PCs out a few times with information and help.

Tiernan Hellion. Dane's sister who was shot by an Imperial patrol while on a mission. Dane presumed she was dead, and without time to recover her body had to flee for his life. What if she wasn't dead? What if Dane was mistaken? What if she was captured by Imperials, brought back from the brink and then tortured for information about the Rebels they rescued. What if she blamed Dane for leaving her behind and for all the things that happened to her since. Wouldn't that be an interesting family reunion...

Trehees Botuum. Lisana's gangland fixer, drug addict, abusive, mother killing father. He harbours a deep resentment that she fled his control. A personal slight that has festered over the years. He has spent a considerable amount of money hunting Lisana down so he can teach her a long and very painful lesson. Lisana desperately wishes for Cho to kill him, looking not as herself but her mother.

Trex. A Trandoshan slaver who works for Vemmla. He maintains a small den in Mos Elia where he and other bounty hunters working for Vemmla hang out away from the stench on Vemmla’s palace.

Vemmla the Hutt. A female Hutt who Hong stole from and who froze Zak in carbonite. A minor crimelord on Tatooine always in the shadow of Jabba. Jabba would later freeze Han Solo in carbonite as part of an elaborate insult to Vemmla. She is vain, ambitious and spiteful. Like all Hutt's she makes revenge a racial pastime. Hong's theft is a personal slight on her standing amongst the Hutt's and is holding her back from advancing. Zak slighted her during a deal. She never forgave him. He hated the relationship and reliance on her anyway. So he walked away. Little did he know that she would take revenge so far. Zak's rescue and lack of punishment for his crimes against Vemmla put him firmly in her sights. Maybe the only thing truly holding her back is the dozen or so other revenges she is pursuing at the same time...

Waroon Dak. An infochant on the Wheel.

Zef Garr. A besalisk who runs Vemmla's Great Land Race team. Many scars from old racing wounds.

Cho (Rossi720)

Post by Bigby »

Cho, main ID.jpg
Diya "Cho" Choani
Jedi initiate -> Black Sun changeling assassin

There's no justice to uphold, no innocents to protect, no cosmic right or wrong. There's just you, doing whatever you need to do to get through the day, just like everyone else. Even the Jedi didn't try to save everyone.

Aspects/keys?
Dark waters
Cho's like water. She unconsciously mirrors those around her, is easily swept around and redirected by others, but she'll always come creeping back toward where she wants to be. She may not have the strength of will she wishes she had, but she's learnt to weaponise her own weaknesses, turn her fears into drivers for action, so their tides push her in the right direction.

Predator, not prey
Better to be the monster than the victim, or at least to portray yourself as such.
Craves power and control over her surrounds, likes to act self-assured and confident even when not feeling it. Will do just about anything to claw her way up the food chain, to gain the power it takes to keep herself and her people safe.

No need for violence
Never starts a fair fight if she can help it; results matter far more than pride or honour. Killings are best done quietly, with as little fuss as possible, and preferably no sign of her passing save the corpse. She enjoys puzzling out more elegant solutions to her jobs than some in her line of work.

Not yet beyond redemption
Ever touched by the Force, she dreamt of joining the Jedi, but she saw those dreams die young. Dark tides have worn away at her ever since, and she has little faith in the world or anyone in it. Still she dreams; maybe the Jedi didn't have all the answers, but perhaps she could find them?
Needs to surround herself with better people to be a better person.

F&D Morality system
Emotional Strength: Ambition.
Cho wants the power it'll take to keep her safe, and to keep safe those she cares about. The Jedi who raised her were the most powerful beings in the Republic; it wasn't enough to save them, but it's the best place she can think of to start. She must learn what they knew, and then learn what they did not.
Emotional Weakness: Cold-heartedness.
Cho has few illusions about the world, and what you sometimes have to do to get ahead. She's more afraid of losing what (and who) she's got than she is of what it'll cost her, personally, to keep it. There's little malice in her, but woe to those who would threaten the few she cares about.

Hillfolk bits:
Dramatic Poles: Morality vs pragmatism.
Needs from the group: Acceptance.
Bonds: Zak's the first target she chose not to kill.
She's like a big sister / guardian to Reeva.
Has worked with Dane before, met after nearly screwing up one of his jobs by completing one of her own.
Wants Hongzhilik to prove he truly doesn't belong in the group.

Observations on the party:
Zak's a favourite mistake. He was a valuable first lesson in why you can't afford to get too close to a mark, why it's best to keep your kills as quick and clean as you can; never let yourself get attached. Zak embodies a whole muddle of things to Cho, too many to easily sort out, and now here she is working with him.

Reeva's a chance to protect a fellow lost soul. She's going to make some terrible decisions, of course, because everyone does. That can't be helped, but Cho'll keep being there to pick up the pieces, maybe try to guide her where she can, show her what she might be capable of.

Lisana she likes, though whether she and Reeva are remotely good for each other remains to be seen. Another troubled one, Cho'd like to help her sort out her issues but doesn't think the solutions Lisana has in mind will actually help her.

Dane's an odd one. He's good at what he does and reliable, so he has Cho's respect there, just not her understanding. If he needs to tell himself his hands are clean to sleep at night, so be it, but to her mind that just indicates a lack of proper perspective on the galaxy he's in.

Hongzhilik? The parasitic little mynock's useful, for sure, but could just as well be the one to screw them all over. Cho's instincts say he's trouble, but it seems everyone else in the crew has too much faith in people to see him for what he is.

(Very) Approximate past history
  • 30 BBY. Born thereabouts.
  • 29 BBY. Taken by the Jedi of Coruscant.
  • 25 BBY. Transferred to the smaller Dantooine temple, used to train both more promising students and those who need a closer eye on them. Rolling grasslands / savannah, idyllic, peaceful, happiest time of her life. Trained under Master Nayim, a beautiful, serene Zabrak lady covered in odd geometric tattoos.
  • 19 BBY. Never finished her Padawan trials, Order 66 interrupted that. Was travelling off-planet with Master Nayim, Gak-Fedaw and some other students when it hit.
Students scattered, Nayim sacrificing herself to buy time. Gak-Fedaw and Cho hid on a freighter, stowaways.
  • 18 BBY. Taris slums. Thieving to stay alive.
  • 17 BBY. Gak-Fedaw went missing, never seen since.
  • 16 BBY. Fell in with the Black Sun, groomed for espionage use then as a potential assassin.
  • 14 BBY. First kill, vengeance for a lost friend. Likely whole thing orchestrated by Black Sun to put her further in their control though, and was the start of her career as an assassin for them.
  • 12 BBY. The Zak Debacle. First and last time she deliberately failed a job for the Black Sun.
  • 1-2 BBY. Nominal independence achieved at last, leaving her gilded cage in what her handler, Carid, assumes will prove to be a passing phase in a year or two.
  • 1 BBY. Meets Reeva.
  • ~0.5 ABY. Rescues Zak.
  • 1 ABY. Keeping an eye on, and warming to, a certain rag-tag bunch of miscreants.

Information that's come out during play so far:
  • Zak always recognises her, no matter what form she's in. Usually calls her Dee or Diya rather than Cho.
  • Her preferred human ID, Diya, harks back to her contract to kill Zak. It's the face she wore to get close, and after being punished for her handling of the contract, she increasingly adopted wearing it as a badge of defiance.
  • Won't give you a straight answer on why she didn't kill Zak, but the short version is she fell for him. Kept putting it off, and eventually warned him of the contract and those who'd likely replace her when she handed the job back. They had quite an intense relationship before her handlers got too impatient though.
  • Has worked off-the-books contracts for COMPNOR / the ISB before, independently of the Black Sun. Most likely politicians or private collectors on worlds where the Empire has a delicate grip, or would prefer quiet disappearances for other reasons. Targets may not have been actual Force-sensitives, just demonstrating interests in proscribed religions or otherwise having the Wrong Ideas.
  • Is willing to mentor Reeva in Force stuff if that's what it takes, but has yet to put that to the test.

Lisana (Slill)

Post by Bigby »

Lisana - Picture.png
Homeworld: Coruscant - sophisticated, urban, cosmopolitan in the extreme
Lisana Homeworld.jpg

Parents: Mother was a prostitute. Father a gangland fixer, and a drug addict.
Upbringing: Lisana grew up in the brothel with her mother, and earned a few coins keeping clients amused with performances such as singing, sleight of hand, mimicry and magic tricks as well as dancing.
The crisis came when Lisana was 11 years old, when her mother was killed by her controlling, abusive father who killed two brothel security guards and then attacked her mother. Lisana fled the place she had called home to escape being pushed into prostitution by her father or worse, to fund father's lifestyle.
After some frightening episodes surviving on the streets, Lisana wound up grifting to make ends meet, and fell in with criminal crowd after a while. She occasionally does some legitimate theatre/performance work, but that doesn't tend to pay the bills!!
Active Bonds with NPCs:
Hymbel the Hand is an illusionist and magician who was a favourite of her mother and taught Lisana much of the sleight of hand tricks and magic that she knows. He was a forensic psychologist by training and helped Lisana realise how to observe people closely and influence them. He sheltered her briefly after her mother’s death to allow her time to arrange to evade her father. In a world bereft of kindness, this meant so much to Lisana, and she would travel to help Hambel whenever and wherever needed.
Mart Alleyn – Lisana’s aunt who dislikes her and resented her mother’s beauty and profession. Mart runs a bar on Foerost, and LIsana has approached her before for help, only achieving any success when Lisana blackmailed her aunt and received money and key contacts for a job. An uneasy and spiteful relationship.
Active Bonds with PCs:
Reeva – Lisana and Reeva are lovers – they met about 4 weeks ago. Reeva seemed to understand Lisana in a deeper way than others had. LIsana was fascinated by Reeva’s insight, which intrigued her and attracted her. This love is passionate and comforting but she is still reluctant to trust anyone too deeply.
Cho – Lisana wants Cho to kill someone for her - – Lisana’s father is still alive and he is the main target of her plot to involve Cho in his killing. Lisana can hardly believe her good fortune to have met Cho, what an opportunity to exact revenge.
Dane -Lisana and Dane have worked together on a ‘venture’ – Lisana welcomed an opportunity to work with Dane as he seems very moral (compared with anyone else she has met) and she is intrigued to work with him as he interacts with people and plans ventures. However, the venture involved less than legal actions, and LIsana observed that Dane did not seem averse to this, in order to achieve his goals.
Hongzhilik – Lisana met Hong when he tried to fleece her on con job and failed – she found this amusing. Lisana has worked with amoral souls before, and admires Hong's ability to adapt technology to his needs. She knows that his interest in her could be useful and (having had ample experience of psychological manipulation in the brothel, grifting and performing) she almost unconsciously plays him along.
Starting obligations:
• Betrayal - father killed mother
• Responsibility – highly protective of abandoned children
Conflict:
Lisana lacks confidence and self-belief, yet knows that she is extremely good at performance and deceit, and seeks fame and is ambitious. Her psychology borders on imposter syndrome and she knows it.
Want/Need:
Validation and reassurance.
Outline Play themes
Performer First
With a notable presence, Lisana changes gear when in role or engaging with people. She buzzes following a successful act, event, or scam, and can barely sit still. This can be offset by using drugs or partying hard. She can also be extremely mischievous when ‘off duty’.
Focus and Succeed
Seeking self reinforcement, LIsana is determined to succeed in whatever she does. In role, she is uncompromising and rarely accepts defeat, as this will cause her further loss of confidence. If she does fail, she becomes introverted and uncommunicative.
Traits: Persuasive, charismatic, alluring, professional, controlled, vulnerable, dextrous, passionate.

Hongzhilik (nemarsde)

Post by Bigby »

Backstory

Most of Hongzhilik's early life was a blur of crime and survival on the dusty streets of Mos Espa on Tatooine.

He grew up in a cutthroat, Dug-eat-Dug world, where any friend was one bad turn away from being an enemy.

Probably the child of thralls or penniless immigrants, no-one remembers Hongzhilik's family, least of all him. Maybe they were carted off to another planet, maybe they were fed to a sarlacc, Hongzhilik doesn't care.

He was raised largely by slythmongers, one of many orphans delivering small packets to the end customers across the space port. For all the drudgery, abuse, and savagery, Hongzhilik remembers these times fondly. He was a kid, he had fun, and didn't dwell on being a worm at the bottom of the pile.

Like most Dugs, Hongzhilik loved racing and speed, and dreamed of becoming a famous podracer like Sebulba. Hongzhilik was soon riding with speeder shipments across the Jundland Wastes to Mos Eisley and elsewhere. He learned his technical skills modifying repulsorlifts and old blasters, and that's how he came to meet Dane, an explorer stuck in the desert with a busted swoop bike whilst searching for the wreck of the Republic freighter, Spice Siren.

Hongzhilik fixed the swoop, and the two found the wreck. Dane found the data he wanted, and Hongzhilik found a sled-full of Tibanna gas. This the Dug sold to Duros traders, and like most crooks, he flaunted his weath tastelessly. His lavish lifestyle came to an abrupt end when he tried to buy slaves, drawing the greedy gaze of the Hutts.

Since the Spice Siren was shot down by pirates in Hutt-space, the Hutts laid claim to its bounty. And that put Hongzhilik in a tight spot that he's been trying to wriggle out of ever since.

Obligation (Debt)

Hongzhilik stole from the Hutt Cartel—Tibanna gas salvaged from a wreck in the Xelric Draw. If he didn't know then, that it would be claimed by the Hutts, he sure knows now!

Motivation (Ambition - Power)

As a kid, Hongzhilik thought he wanted fame. As a teen, he thought he wanted fortune. Now he realises the only currency worth the nits on a nerf's nutsack is power, and he strives to be in a position where he's the big boss, skivvy to no-one.

Reeva Coulin (Gypsy)

Post by Gypsy »

Reeva.jpg
IPKC_Reeva.jpg
Batuu.jpg
Planet of Birth: Batuu, Outer Rim Territories
Features: Mountains, Forests, Petrified Trees, Rivers, Ancient Ruins, Black Spire Outpost (spaceport, cantina, market), Surabat River Valley (deep, curved through rock spires, very difficult to navigate)

Date of Birth: 18BBY (before battle of Yavin)
Mother: Reina Galene
Father: Zak (Zachariah) Myrto

Childhood:
Born to her mother, single parent. She had no idea who her dad was. They lived around the Black Spire Outpost, her mother working as a singer and entertainer at the cantina. Most of her earnings were in the form of tips so they often went hungry but there were some good times as well. Reeva didn’t notice the hardship much as it was all she had ever known. Plus her Mum developed a network of others in similar situations and they used to help each other, sharing the bad times and the good. These others helped to bring up Reeva as her mother had to work when she could. They were like her extended family. Some had kids too, so she had playmates. Always adventurous and curious, she would often lead them in small adventurers exploring the forests and mountains around the Outpost, getting into scrapes like most kids.

Things changed when she was sixteen. Arriving home one day after scavenging and foraging, their small makeshift home was empty, but there were signs that the place had been ransacked. Frantically searching their few rooms, Reeva found a large pool of blood but no mother. However, placed in the blood, careful placement to avoid spatter was a badge, coin, something..
Token.png
She had no idea what it meant. But she is sure that it is a message of some kind. She reported it, endured lots of questions, had no answers, talked to everyone she knew but no-one offered any information. Devasted, grieving, living on handouts from others, she didn’t know what to do. One of the others, an old guy called Jeb, came to see her. Tough love. Told her that she needed to take hold of herself, find a way to survive. Offered to teach her how to hunt those who owed money, something he had done before it became too much for him. Initially she resisted but desperation sent her back to him. And in her head she thought that if she could learn to find people, she might be able to find her mother if she was still alive. So she started to train, took on a few easier jobs which he helped her with though she did the legwork. It is around this time when she realised that she could sort of do things, sense things, but had no idea why. She mentioned it to Jeb and he immediately shut her up and told her never to mention it to anyone. Never. Ever. Then he gave her a metal box that her mother had left with him in case anything should happen to her.

She took it home. It was locked, coded but eventually she found a code based on her birthdate that opened it. Apart from a few items, a little money (there had never been much to spare), there were two hologram messages, one for her and one for someone called Zak.
In hers, her Mum tells Reeva why she had fled to Batuu. Apparently she was wanted by the Empire. She had been a rebel, force sensitive and the group she had belonged to had been infiltrated and then decimated by agents of the Empire. Those who survived fled. She ended up on Batuu hoping to keep a low profile and escape any attention. It was here that she met Reeva’s father Zak. She says that he worked for the Empire but was a good man. Initially she had thought to influence him, try to make him see that the path he was on was not a good one but she fell in love. And he with her. But he had to leave to return to duty, promising to return, and she trusted that he would. He didn’t. But she had never stopped believing in him, telling Reeva that she was born of love, that she loved her and that as her daughter Reeva was the thing most precious to her. But she needed to take care now, keep herself safe, keep her identity quiet.

Reeva cried. Understanding how much her mother had sacrificed for her. She looked a lot like her mother and seemingly had other things in common with her too. She missed her so much. She vowed then that she would find her or at least find out what happened to her.

Then she activated Zak’s hologram, again listening to her mother and seeing her again. It was hard but she needed to know.

“Zak, I don’t know why you never returned. Something must have happened. I just hope I had nothing to do with that. I am talking to you now so that you know you have a baby daughter. I have called her Reeva, I think you would have liked that. Isn’t she beautiful?
[Holds up a small baby girl in her arms]
If I get word of where you are I will send this hologram but if not, I can only hope you make it back to me someday. You were the best thing that ever happened to me, rekindling hope I thought had died. I should move on but I will wait in hope, in love, for you to return.”

Reeva cried again. Then she pulled herself together. Destroyed the first hologram even though it broke her heart to do so.. but she still had Zak’s.

And now she had two parents to search for!

She returned to Jeb, eager to resume her work, to learn, to push the boundaries but this time with more pride in who she was. And she would find them one day.

Eventually she changed her name and left Jeb and Batuu behind. The answers she needed were not there. Her work provided opportunities, contacts, information, money – although the latter went straight back into her research. It was not all positive. She was beaten up more than once, raped and that has put her off men for some time, done jobs that she would rather not have, done others that she felt were justified. All of this to fuel her quest. Of her mother and the strange symbol, nothing. As time goes on Reeva begins to lose hope that she will ever find her or find out why. But she does start to pick up traces of Zak. She has no idea whether he will want anything to do with her but she has a message to deliver for her Mum and that is something she will see through.

Her search eventually leads her to Nal Hutta where she learns that Zak had been taken as a captive. It will be a formidable task. She will need help, resources. She had already come across another Bounty Hunter, Cho and she has by now a network of connections, some of them underworld. Cho agrees to help her and she is granted a favour by an underground group that have no love for the Hutts. Feeling that she is selling her soul to the devil, she has no choice but to accept their help in return for a favour to be paid later.

With help she then finds Zak. He is frozen like stone in some substance but Cho tells her that he is likely to still be alive. Horrified, they set to work to try to reverse the process and succeed, getting him away from there before any alert is raised.

Once they are safe and Zak is tended to and sufficiently recovered, she gives him a copy of the hologram from her Mum. There is a relationship to be built here. He may be her father but she doesn't know him. Her mother's feelings for him are an influence though.

Her relationship with Cho is a strange one, a sort of mutual respect and almost a kinship, though more with Cho in the role of tutor and Reeva as student.
Notes from Ross:
• Reeva + Cho met professionally some while back, so have worked together before.
• Maybe Cho needed intel on a person's whereabouts & local ties, hired Reeva to find out.
• Cho would've had an established rep, albeit mostly through the Black Sun liking having the scare-factor of a changeling assassin on their books. Nominally independent these days, unassuming first impressions, might've seemed more approachable than some other BHs Reeva had met.
• Reeva looking for advice, thinks she could learn from Cho's experience, plus there's something about her she can't quite put her finger on, maybe seems familiar. (ie, Force sense at work)
• Cho drifting into feeling protective of Reeva, sort of 'big sister' role maybe rather than the initial 'foster mother' relationship discussed.
• Mutual Force-sensitivity adds a degree of "us against the world", too.
o Cho might've guessed during a job, after Reeva gave oddly specific warnings about guard placements etc that she couldn't have directly seen - likely when they were working their way in to retrieve Zak. Wouldn't have said anything at the time, but they'll presumably have talked since.
o Cho's wonky Jedi training ought to complement and contrast Reeva's natural intuitions and attunement to the Force; Cho will be waving lightsabers, tuning into danger sense and conflict-oriented stuff etc, while Reeva more focused on sensing her environs, others' thoughts, seeking things out etc.
o Cho can let Reeva know more of what she might be able to do, guide her in practicing stuff, while Reeva can give Cho an anchor back into her own training, figuring out her own Force talents through guiding another, having to learn to trust her own instincts again.
o Would be interesting to know how well Reeva can read Cho using her Force talents; does Cho's tricksy nature make it difficult to get the truth of things out of her even with the Force?
• Learning who Reeva's father is would've been a bit of a "tea through nostrils" moment with Cho, I think. Wouldn't need much encouragement to ask her contacts where Zak might be now. Met years back, told some great war stories, probably wouldn't initially have said much more than that about their brief association though.

More recently she has a loose affiliation with a group that seems to be firming up. The group has some strong connections for her. Zak and Cho are part of it. She has started a relationship with Lisana, who reminds her a lot of her mum, being an entertainer. She finds herself gravitating to females though this is a departure for her, probably stemming from her recent experiences at the hands of some men. The passion and gentle nature of Lisana is just what Reeva needs right now. Lisana always looks to use her charm and persuasion rather than resort to conflict. Reeva admires this even if she doesn't yet embrace it. Dane is part of the group and she really needs to know what he is not telling her about her Mum. Another guy is Muerta. She doesn’t know him well but others do. It might be the start of something.

BONDS GIVEN:
• Zak is her father
• Lisana is her lover, an entertainer like her Mum
• Dane knows something about her Mum, won’t tell, says the time isn’t right
BONDS ACCEPTED:
• Cho is a foster mum figure in her life
CONFLICT POLE:
• Do I uphold the law, especially that of the Empire? Lately sympathies have been with those I target.
WANTS/NEEDS:
• Want support, don’t want to go it alone any more.

Captain Zechariah 'Zak' Myrto
Republic Officer -> Disillusioned Veteran

Image

Duty, honour and the Republic. The three pillars of a soldier's strength turned into the bars of a cage. My faith and pride used to beguile and ensnare me. I once truly believed that the ends justify the means, but I now know that to be a fallacy. They've taken my honour, my rank, my faith and my love... I've fallen further than even my worst nightmares, done things to survive I would have condemned men for. Nothing mattered anymore, I was resigned to my fate, I had lost hope... and then she found me. I have a daughter - I will make her proud, I will make her mother proud. I will get justice.

Aspects/Keys:

Once bitten, Twice Shy
Zak was a man of honour and duty. Faithful to the Republic. These qualities where manipulated. That will never happen again. He will never take things at face value again. Trust must be earned, and demonstrated. Zak is now jaded and bitter. He feels betrayed by the very system it was his duty to protect.

If only you could see what I've seen
Zak has been through a fair amount in his life. From a rich privileged upbringing, through the military academy, peacekeeping missions into real conflict, and finally war followed by villainy. He done things that needed to be done, but they've had their effect on him, he's see things and experience things that others haven't - and wouldn't want too.

Blood is thicker than water
As part of a career military family Zak always knew he'd have children someday, it was his duty. But to have a child with someone he actually loved was not what he expected. He can see Reina in Reeva in a thousand different ways. That he's missed so much of her life and that it's been so hard is a cross he'll bare until his death.

All Enemies Domestic and Foreign
Zak had lost his way. Finding Reina reminded him of what he'd lost, of who he is. Surviving is no longer enough. He made a vow to protect the Republic. The Empire is a corruption of everything that the Republic stood for. It must be torn down and destroyed. The Republic must be reborn.

Obligations:

Vigilante
Zak is career military, no matter how far he falls, it is in his nature to protect the weak from the bullies and predators. Since leaving the Empire he's brought a brand of justice to a number of hardened criminals.

Betrayal
Zak feels betrayed by the system he served, and is sure that there are those still in the system who believe he betrayed them. That some of his family still server the Empire is at once a betrayal and makes him a betrayer. Through his time with the Empire, Zak is also sure that there are those in the Rebellion who would label him such too.

Background (Raw):

Born into a career military family. Privileged upbringing, school then military academy. Arranged marriage to Roza Dagmar. The Dagmar family were at the time a powerful political force in the Republic. Developing connections to the military though marriage was a power play that suited both families.

Had a successful career in the Republic military just as the whole Separatist Crisis unfolded and the Empire was born. Fell for what he now perceives as the propaganda and was a faithful/loyal Imperial officer until he came face to face with the reality - the extremely harsh reality.

Lost many friends and colleagues during this unfolding. Some lost to battle, some he felt they were traitors at the time - which still effects him greatly.

Fell in love/was seduced by an entertainer named Reina as his last posting. Zak met her while posted and he fell in love. She was an entertainer at the most popular joint near his last posting. He made a pass at her one night for a bet whilst on shore leave - but actually got traction that he never expected!
Beautiful, talented and intelligent, Zak never understood what exactly she saw in him. At his point in his career he was already highly disillusioned with the direction that the Republic, now Empire, had taken, he grabbed on to the affection with both hands.
Their relationship persisted until Zak deserted the Empire. They had planned to disappear together - but suspicious events transpired to prevent that, and Zak was forced to flee without her. When separated Zak had no idea that Reina was pregnant.

Looking back Zak, can now see that Reina was a significant influence on him politically as well as emotionally, and it has occurred to him since that her sympathies were likely for the Rebellion. Knowing that she kept his child removed some doubt that had developed that he'd just been a target for a Rebel Spy. Over the years he's never stopped looking for information about her - but has found nothing.

Eventually he turned 'traitor' himself as he realised the full extent of the corruption of the Republic. (It's quite likely that there are folks on both sides who wish him harm. Could easily add an atrocity or two in here - we can decide who's responsible later. ;-) )

AWOL and fled to the Rim and found work as a mercenary. Fell in with some unsavory characters and was involved in some dubious heists, leaving him targeted by a Hutt. Any number of dodgy goings on. Zak has fallen from grace and had lost his faith. At this point, he's just surviving. Many war wounds and scars. (Toying with some cybernetic replacements as he sure can't afford cloned tissue.) Run ins with bounty hunters and the occasional assassin. ( cough... cough... Cho?)

End up a carbonite wall decoration for said Hutt (after Jabba's Solo - it's keeping up with the Joneses - Hutt stylee).

Some years pass.

Someone eventually recognises Zak and decides he might well have information they want (could be Republic/Empire or Underworld related - plenty of possible hooks there), and they arrange for his theft.

On thawing, the freezing has effected his memory and even he isn't entirely sure what he has or hasn't done. He's now in debt to the group that freed him.

Dane Hellion
Once and Future Explorer, turned into ethical survivor.

The Galaxy is descending into chaos. Death comes for the innocent as well as the guilty. Do nothing that contributes towards this chaos. Deal with others as you would want them to deal with you, and we'll make the Galaxy a better place.

History
The three eldest Hellion brothers were visiting the neighbouring planet of Tentah on a business holiday when the civil war between the Republic and the Separatists arrived at their system. The Outer Rim Sieges cut off all civilian travel and communications between planets, so they waited it out, completing their purchase of three small sensor-packed starships and taking the enforced extended holiday. When the local battle was over, and the Republic had finished flushing out the remaining Separatist forces, their home had been destroyed. However, the family survived, though it was a close shave.

With their starships, the family started a new venture; Hellion Explorations, and went forth to seek out new systems and new opportunities. With the Separatist war coming to an end, there would be plenty of opportunity for expansion coming soon. An uncharted system would be desirable to many people; corporations, Separatist survivors fleeing the Republic, the Republic itself.

The three brothers completed the first sweep, and returned with information and proof of resources, making a tidy profit. They went out again on a second sweep, this time with their wives and children on board on a longer mission. When they came back, with a greater set of discoveries, they found that their company HQ had been ransacked, and their family members, tortured and killed, or missing. There was little information regarding who had done it, or why, but the ransacking indicated that someone was after information that they thought they had.

Local police was less than useful, almost as if they were just making a show of doing the investigation. Disillusioned and distrustful of the authorities, the remaining family members relocated back to their original home planet and started afresh again.

Dane's Story
A young 15-year old when he was flew his first full mission with his parents and siblings, Dane had grown up around starships amidst dreams of exploring the galaxy. He, along with his siblings, were taught to perform every role on the exploration mission, from astrogation, to flying to interpreting sensors, remote surveying and planetary scans, planetary flight and on-site physical surveys. It took several years, during which the family were successful in their business and expanded, eventually to about 50 ships and 1100 staff. They had a knack for locating valuable systems, and got a lot of business from corporations and the Empire.

Dane rose up the ranks, to captain his own exploration ship and run missions. One of these missions was an Imperial contract, to a system he had surveyed before, but this time carrying four Imperial civilian specialists and a squad of stormtroopers. It turned out they were searching for a crashed blockade runner, which they successfully located. He and his crew were kept away from the crash site, and away from the non-navigation sensors, while the Imperial contingent scanned the wreckage and retrieved items and cargo.

As the Empire expanded its control, it awarded increased number of contracts to Hellion Explorations, and eventually, added its own people to the company board, effectively taking control of the company. This resulted in Hellion Explorations working exclusively for the Empire, refusing its traditional corporate customers.

This outraged the family, but most were persuaded to stay, for the good of their staff and the company. Four of the younger members, including Dane and his favourite sister Tiernan, decided to leave. Using their funds, they bought an exploration ship, and struck out on their own as an independent explorer, taking contracts from their former corporate customers.

Initially successful, they eventually fell foul of the Empire's campaign against the more rebellious corporations. Their ship was "requisitioned", and they were remunerated a fraction of the cost of the ship, and a tiny fraction of the value of their business. The four of them crewed on various ships, trying to get sufficient funds to get a new ship, but inevitably split up as ships couldn't, or wouldn't, take all four on. Dane and Tiernan stuck together, and were either hired as a pair or refused to join a ship's crew.

They ended up crewing on a ship for over a year, and got on so well with the crew that they considered staying permanently. This changed one day, when Tiernan, out collecting passengers and their cargo on a contract, ended up in an unexpected shootout between those passengers and an Imperial patrol. She was killed, along with some of those passengers, and Dane had to do an emergency takeoff and blow past the Imperial frigate in orbit before it could target them. He confronted the captain about the incident, and she admitted that the passengers were rebels being smuggled off of the planet before the Empire closed in on them. Dane was outraged by the fact that this had been hidden from him and his sister, and that this had led to her death. Feeling betrayed, he left the ship at the next port, and took some time off.

He spent this time, doing planetside information gathering missions. It was during one of these that he first ran into Hong whilst trying to retrieve a stolen data card from a crashed ship. Later on, he encountered Lisana, and paid her to get him information that led him to the person who had stolen some corporate data. The trail led him to a mobster, and whilst observing the mobster for an opportunity to retrieve the data, he saw Cho go in and assassinate the mobster. This simplified matters with regards to the retrieval, though it turned out to be trickier than expected as Cho had realised she was being observed, and had waited in ambush for him. They sorted out their mutual goals, and departed as potential contacts.

During one of these jobs, he unexpectedly came across information that an Imperial intelligence unit, accompanied by a squad of stormtroopers, had been responsible for the torture and massacre of his family. The squad was led by Zak, who seemed to have left the Imperial Army. He tracked him down, to find out why his family had been killed, but it was too late. Zak was not the man he was, and did not seem to have the relevant memories.

Personal Timeline
36 BBY - Tiernan born
34 BBY - Dane born
19 BBY - The extended family purchases 3 new starships, to be captained by the Dane's father and two of his paternal uncles. This occurs during one of the Outer Rim Sieges, which also results in the destruction of their home city. Fortunately, the extended family survive. However, they are in no position to rebuild in their home city, and decide to relocate to the neighbouring planet where the starships are located.
18 BBY - Dane joins his parents and siblings on his first long-duration exploration mission.
18 BBY - Family company HQ ransacked and family members are apparently all killed , many after being tortured. The only survivors are Dane's father, the two paternal uncles, their wives and their children. The investigation into this appears to be deliberately stalled. Disgusted with this, and distrustful of the authorities, the survivors relocate back to their original home planet.
15 BBY - Dane joins a ship
13 BBY - Dane captains a ship for the first time.
11 BBY - Dane captains a mission for an Imperial contract with Imperial specialists and stormtroopers as passengers. This turns out to be a search-and-retrieval mission going to a crashed blockade runner.
9 BBY - Company has grown rapidly on the back of some very valuable discoveries, and is now at 50 ships, 300 flight crew, 300 ground crew, 50 analysts, and 350 sales and administrative staff.
9 BBY - The Empire, who is supplying some 50% of the company's contractual work, decides that the company is too a valuable asset to remain independent, and insert their own administrators on the company's board alongside the family. These administrators act as political officers, and the company changes focus subtly from servicing all and sundry to solely serving the Empire. This is not a popular move, and many in the company reconsider their position. Ultimately, only about 15 people leave as a result of this, but these include Dane, Tiernan, and two of their male cousins, Rellis and Reece.
9 BBY - Dane, Tiernan and the two cousins purchase their own small exploration starship, and start up as an independent, servicing their old corporate clients (and thus not competing with the family company).
4 BBY - The Empire "requisitions" their ship, remunerating them a fraction of the value of the ship. This leaves them unable to purchase a replacement ship, and so they sign on as crew on other ships. Over the period of several contracts, the four cousins are forced to split up. However, Dane and Tiernan refuse to be parted, and so take up ground-based work during periods when ship work wasn't available.
2 BBY - Tiernan is killed by stormtroopers during what was meant to be a routine passenger pickup. Dane leaves the ship at the next port, distraught by her death and the fact that the captain had hidden the fact the passengers were rebels wanted by the Empire. He spends some time doing ground-based information gathering work.
1 BBY - Dane discovers that it was the Empire that had killed most of his extended family 17 years earlier, and discovers the identity of one of them. He starts to track that officer down.

Dark Tide: The Movie

Post by nemarsde »

After a few sessions, I have a feel for the player characters and am ready to cast 'The Movie'. ;) I've tried to be true to the accents around our table, so there's an English slant in most cases.

Cho
I guess my hand has been Forced, I have to cast Thandie Newton, the British actress who played Val in Solo: A Star Wars Story, since Ross has worked that into Cho's back story. Still, she's a fine actress and her character had a rubbish send-off in Solo, so I think she'd make a welcome return. Casting the same actors in different roles in the same franchise is a British film tradition anyway. See the James Bond franchise.
Image

Dane
I initially imagined Dane as played by Toby Kebbell, a talented British character actor with stand out parts in War Horse and RocknRolla, also noted for his mo-cap work. But now I think Dane needs someone with less tendancy to be killed off in their movies. Someone who can still balance the light with the dark though. Charlie Cox sprang to mind, a British actor best known for his lead turns in Stardust and the Netflix/Marvel series Daredevil/The Defenders, where he also showed his ruggedness and ability to play in an ensemble.
Image

Hongzhilik
A CGI creation, much like Sebulba, but who would voice him? At first I thought Danny McBride, but now I think he's too soft for The Hong. John Leguizamo though, he's a skilled voice actor, doing Sid the Sloth (Ice Age) and Gune (Titan AE), and he did a great Mercutio in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet. He plays good guys, bad guys, annoying guys. Perfect! (He even annoyed Steven Seagal so much, Seagal smacked him!)
YouTube

Lisana
Hmm, so this character is going to be in facial prosthetics. Tall, rounded forehead, prominent brow, no ears, slightly reptilian, green skin. Despite all that has to be a physical knock-out, but intelligent. Priyanka Chopra would be fascinating, and pretty hot in Falleen make-up! An Indian actress who's career in the West has thrived on hot-bodied but wily characters. She'd bring star power to the film and target the Asian market too. Is she too old for Reeva though? I dunno, I think it makes it a more interesting dynamic, as she can appeal to Dane too.
Image

Reeva
Hmm, difficult. Young actresses generally aren't required to play tough, streetwise characters, especially British actresses. However, Ally Ioannides was convincing as the troubled young assassin Tilda/Iron Rabbit in Into the Badlands. She's American, can do a Transatlantic accent well enough, and I can imagine her as Reeva.
Image

Zak
OK, if Reeva's going Transatlantic, so can her father. For more star power, let's bring in Huge Jack Man. Everyone loves him, I'm no exception, he's a solid actor, and as shown in Logan, he can pull off the bearded, worse for wear look. We need to get Hugh back into some tough guy roles.

Q&A from Episode V

Post by Bigby »

What does Lisana see in Reeva and visa versa?
Does Lisana worry that her pheromones undermine the value of any relationship?
Or does she accept them as part of her nature and the whole package?
We need a scene to explore this more.

Reeva is now carrying a big gun.
Has she ever shot at someone? She has drawn on people. Probably has shot at people before.
has she ever killed someone? Yes, but didn’t like it.

What does Dane know about her mum? This is going to be part of a wider story arc. More about this was revealed in Episode V.

What are the groups aims, beyond making money? Probably need a scene to discuss this. More clarity on this developed over the course of Episode V. In summary paying off Obligation and looking for a teacher for Reeva.

Why did Hong seduce Cratala? Trying to get Cyber-Nexu to pay off his debt.

What does Zak’s cybernetics mean to him? Flashback to a morale conflict where he lost his eye and arm (at the same time) maybe saving someone that he shouldn’t. While part of Empire. They gave him cyberware.
Would he cut his own arm off to get cybernetics? No.
Would he get rid of existing cybernetics with his limbs back? Probably not until he retires.
Would you upgrade? Yes, it’s just a tool.

Cho & Lisana, a timeline

Post by rossi720 »

As talked through with Sarah over lifts shared to/from gaming, in that fabled era, the Time Before Lockdown, and since. The days of 1.5h travel times either way made for a lot of discussion!

[Supplemental notes on how observable/public things were have been added in square brackets]

Initially, we see gradual build of mutual respect + understanding, from a distance, but we also see them being thoroughly prickly with each other. Too much in common for there not to be friction.

First sign in the very early game that I can recall was Lisana staging a 'Falleen homeworld day' aboard the Fox, Hong dissing it and pulling down the bunting... and Lisana then finding Cho stringing Hong up with it in the hold, apologising in relatively fluent Falleen for the disturbance and assuring her he wouldn't disrespect tradition again.

After we met with Carid and he offered a contract to kill Trehees, things really shifted gear, and they started to get closer:
Lisana's confidence was on a high, she absolutely owned that club when she walked in, so she decides she needs to kill Trehees herself, doesn't want the blood on anyone else's hands.
She asks Cho to train her to do it; Cho's thinking "atta girl, that's the spirit!"

Cue period of very intensive training together as we travel:
Sparring, breaking down physical boundaries between them;
Training in how to evade detection, to poison, to easily slip things into drinks;
Building trust and a thorough understanding of each others' tells.

[This was largely public; Lisana was open about the request to Cho, Cho happy to oblige. Some training will have been in the cargo bay, might've borrowed Zak on occasion. Other times Cho will have politely ousted him from their cabin to teach poisoning etc in peace & quiet. Fun times!]

Vemmla's party itself was rough on Lisana.
Meeting Trehees, she was just about ready for. Meeting her half-sister, seeing her own nightmares mirrored in their eyes, then nearly being abducted? She wasn't ready for those.
Cho was the one who made sure she got back to the Fox, the one who sat with her through that breakdown, helped rebuild.

[Obviously public as far as the leaving together goes. Lisana decided she needed to leave. Cho, disguised as a Twi'lek hostess, immediately volunteered to the Majordomo to see her safely back to her ship. The conversation between them was resolved out-of-session, and they wouldn't have shared in-character.]

Going on to Geonosis:
The two of them were thick as thieves, a mutual fondness for mischief feeding each other, getting out the disguise kits to pretend to be each other and doing a compelling job.
[They paired off during the initial scouting forays, and spent a long while on the ship together getting disguised, but obviously we didn't flag anyone else quite what they were up to at the time]
(Cho was worried Trehees would follow them, and wanted him going after the wrong target if things went bad - not telling the rest of the group was just a bit of fun and ensured nobody accidentally revealed the ruse to observers. Seeing Zak deliberately snog 'fake-Cho' Lisana as he figured it out was a laugh.)
Job done, we escaped Trehees, all good.

[Public knowledge after the fact, but rather confusing both in and out of character. Even Bruce, Sarah and I get muddled as to who was playing who during what bit of that session; it worked better as an idea in our heads than in practice!]

...and then Cho effed it all up, of course, having pulled a side job for Vemmla without telling anyone. Compounded by Vemmla then having her hand the package direct to Trehees herself.

Lisana's furious with Cho, even Cho's furious with Cho.
Lisana verbally demolishes her, she knows Cho so well her words cut right through her, pushing a bit of a breakdown/rebuild into motion within Cho herself.

[To most observers, this probably all rolls into one apparent crisis with Cho after obtaining Nayim's lightsaber. Everyone was somewhat hurt, but the depth of Lisana's feeling on the subject may have surprised some.]

Lisana cools in time, still angry but understanding why Cho did what she did. Relations remain very frosty for some time, however.

On Life Day, Lisana sees Cho going all out to protect the Hellions, lightsaber out, launching stormtroopers hither and yon with the Force, throwing everything she has into protecting her best friend's family. Relations start thawing.

Zak really starts to break down in the aftermath, putting the crew under more strain than ever, especially in the wake of Hong's sacrifice. Blowing up at Dane in the bar, and generally being in full-on wounded animal mode, Zak was very uncomfortable to be around.

[Cho was doing her utmost to convey how sorry she was to Dane, at Zak's behaviour, without actually verbalising it and risking Zak thinking he didn't have her support. Lisana definitely observed that, others probably did too, but the focus wasn't really on her.]

Neither Cho nor Lisana want to see things fall apart, both counting the crew as the closest to a family they've ever had, viscerally important to both of them.

Lisana hesitantly comes to Cho, asking if they can maybe rebuild things, work together behind the scenes to support everyone.

[Secrecy mode, engage! Tensions start to drop, but the two don't visibly interact all that much while anyone else is around. Their conversations mostly happen in the early hours after everyone else is resting.]

So that's what they try to do: Cho supporting Zak, helping Reeva do so too; Lisana supporting Dane and gluing everyone back together with shared meals, events; then Cho+Lisana supporting each other after hours, restoring each others' emotional resources as best they can.

They're both deeply private people, and both prioritising the crew over themselves, so they've kept their shared time quiet; all anyone's likely to have seen is a welcome easing of their ever-prickly relationship, and an awful lot of empty glasses.

[Why so reserved about it? Interpersonal tensions have been the crew's main problem, as they see it. There were so many ways their actions could've been interpreted poorly - Dane or Zak getting over-emotional and thinking C+L were being somehow disloyal, Reeva becoming jealous of Cho's bond with Lisana - so they've tried to just keep entirely off the radar. No news is good news, right?]

By the time the Blue Nexu is restored, so's their relationship, tighter than ever. And that's where we picked up with the message gaming between Episodes 24 and 25.

Urrlikon (nemarsde)

Post by nemarsde »

Background

Born on Gigor in a primative tribe, Urrlikon grew up with the constant threat of Zygerrian slavers.
The Grand Army of the Republic fought against slavery during the Clone Wars and youngling Urrly swore one day he'd join the fight.
Instead, republic was abolished and the Galactic Empire not only condoned slavery, they participated in it to stock Imperial forced labour camps.
When he was old enough Urrly and many other Gigorans joined insurgents fighting the Empire. Fascinated and amazed by technology,he spent time working on captured heavy weapons and fitting out civilian craft for paramilitary service, under the command of the vigilante Nightswan.
Urrly's squad in the Battle of Lansend Twenty-Six, an operation to free Wookiee slaves that ended with ambush and defeat of the insurgent forces by Admiral Thrawn.
Urrly survived. Nightswan continued the insurgency in the Batonn Sector, where he was finally cornered and killed by Admiral Pryce. But Urrlik never forgot his squat-mates, taken prisoner during Lansend Twenty-Six and has searched for them ever since.

Obligation (Unfinished Business)

Urrlikon plans a prison break, to rescue his squad-mates captured at the Battle of Lansend Twenty-Six.

Obligation (Dutybound)

Urrly was an insurgent that fought against the Empire in the years before the Battle of Yavin. Many of his brothers-in-arms have joined the Rebel Alliance, and he is still bound to their cause.

Motivation (Cause - Emancipation)

Urrly believes it is the responsibility of all good people to combat the slave trade wherever it occurs. even if it's an Imperial slave processing station.
