Blaggard's Bird
Lady Blackbird is a firm favourite of our gaming group. Written by John Harper and released by his One Seven Design Studio in 2010, it's the king of one shot, quick start TTRPGs.
We've played the original many times, some of us also played the sequels. We've created our own "hackbirds" for Star Wars and Star Trek, the latter becoming a 2-year campaign.
A time came when I wanted to introduce a new player to Lady Blackbird but others weren't keen to revisit the classic yet again. So I had to create a hackbird that emulated the original experience whilst having a fun, new theme.
Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean is much loved and the franchise had already loaded all the classic tropes into one treasure chest so I decided to plunder it. Argh!
